Our 2024 annual report and the 2024 annual sustainable investment report are available on line from today.
Despite global unrest and economic uncertainty, we ended 2024 on a relatively good financial note. This allowed us to increase pensions for the fourth year in a row, now by 0.4%, as of 1 January 2025. A modest step, but it brings the total increase since 2022 to 15.6%.
In 2024, we have taken important steps in the area of pension transition. In close collaboration with our social partners (employers, sectors and trade unions), we provided clarity on the many choices that had to be made. We actively involved our participants in the process, by informing them about the new pension through webinars, among other things.
Sustainable investing is a priority. In the long term, it contributes to a more stable balance with fewer risks. In 2024, we further defined our three focus themes: climate, biodiversity and nutrition. Themes that we previously selected based on a participant survey. To increase our knowledge about biodiversity, we have started a collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF-NL).
In 2024, our chairman of the Board Jochem Dijckmeester, who has been appointed at De Nederlandsche Bank as Division Director of Pension Fund Supervision, stepped down. Jochem joined as a director in 2016 and became chairman in 2020. Partly under his leadership, we developed into the pension fund for and by employers from no fewer than 16 different sectors. We are proud of his move to DNB and the contribution he will make to the pension sector there.
For example, we conducted a risk preference survey among our participants, which we use to further shape our investment policy. We worked on the implementation of a new administration system, in line with the new pension system. And we also welcomed our 100,000th pension recipient - a special milestone.
All those involved, including our employees and social partners, have made a huge effort to take the necessary steps and achieve great results in 2024. We do this for each other. And we are proud of that.
