More or less pension for your partner

You can opt to change the level of your partner's pension.

A higher pension for your partner
Depending on your pension scheme, you can opt to accrue more pension for your partner. For example, because your partner has very little or no pension provision. As a consequence, your own pension will be lower.

No pension for your partner
You can also opt not to accrue a pension for your partner. For example, because you have no partner or because your partner has accrued his or her own pension. As a consequence, your own pension will be higher. If you have a partner, he or she must waive his or her rights to a partner’s pension.

Equal pension in the event of death
You can opt to have the same amount of pension paid out if either you or your partner die. As a result, your partner will receive a higher pension if you die. However, you will receive a lower pension if your partner dies before you. Your partner has to agree with your choice.

If you cohabit, you have to register your partner yourself
If you are cohabiting, you have to register your partner with us yourself. If you have failed to do so, it’s vital you do so before you retire. If you don’t register your partner with us, your partner won’t receive a pension from us if you die.
